Using mobile data in Poland: local tips

  • 112 in English. In an emergency, call the free 112 number — Polish Police say it is operated in both Polish and English.
  • Save 985 for the Tatras. Tatra mountain rescue (TOPR) answers on 985. If the signal is too weak for the call to connect, try 112.
  • Install Ratunek before a hike. Polish mountain rescue recommends the free Ratunek app, which calls rescuers and sends them your location.
  • One app for most trains. KOLEO sells tickets for PKP Intercity, POLREGIO and most regional rail operators in one app, in English and without extra booking fees.
  • Offline timetables with Jakdojade. The Jakdojade journey planner covers Polish city transport, and timetables for stops you save are available offline.
  • Kraków mobile tickets on boarding. In Kraków, a mobile ticket must be bought as soon as you board, so make sure you have signal when you step on.
