Switzerland Daily eSIM — Never Run Out of Data

Daily-renewing data plan for your Switzerland trip: choose 500MB–10GB high-speed data per day and the exact number of days you need (1–30 days). Once your daily high-speed allowance is exhausted, speeds are reduced — maps and messaging still work, unlike fixed-data plans where connectivity drops entirely.

  • Speed after the daily cap depends on the plan: 512 Kbps on 500MB, 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, 10GB, but only 500 Kbps on 2GB. A bigger plan doesn’t mean faster speeds once the cap is reached.

Using mobile data in Switzerland: local tips

  • Use a 4G/5G phone. Almost everyone in Switzerland is covered by 4G, and Sunrise switched off 3G in 2025 — older 3G-only phones may not connect. Figures count people, so remote Alpine spots can still have gaps.
  • EasyRide needs data the whole trip. SBB’s EasyRide ticketing needs working mobile data, GPS and Bluetooth from check-in until check-out — if data can’t be sent, you may not hold a valid ticket.
  • Swiss Travel Pass in the app. A Swiss Travel Pass appears in the SBB Mobile app only if you bought it from SBB while logged in; passes from other sellers won’t show there.
  • Station Wi-Fi, not train Wi-Fi. Free “SBB-FREE” Wi-Fi is available at about 80 stations, but SBB’s on-train FreeSurf works only with SIMs from certain Swiss providers — plan to use your own data on board.
  • Mountain rescue. The Rega app sends your location to air rescue but needs at least minimal coverage. Rega’s emergency number is 1414 (+41 333 333 333 from abroad); where reception is poor, try 112.
  • Weather and avalanche warnings. The free MeteoSwiss app from the federal weather office can send official storm, flood and avalanche alerts for your chosen locations.

Checked against official sources in September 2026. Services and coverage change — check the app or operator before you travel.

FAQ

Depends on your chosen plan: 500MB/day → 512 Kbps; 1GB/day → 512 Kbps; 2GB/day → 500 Kbps; 3GB/day → 512 Kbps; 5GB/day → 512 Kbps; 10GB/day → 512 Kbps. After that, you stay connected until your daily high-speed allowance resets.

eSIM plans for Switzerland connect via Sunrise, Salt. Your device automatically selects the strongest local network; 5G is available where supported by the carrier, otherwise 4G/LTE applies. The specific carrier for each plan is listed on its detail page.

Daily plans provide a fixed amount of high-speed data refreshed each day (e.g., 1 GB/day). Once the daily high-speed limit is reached, speeds are reduced but connectivity remains — the full high-speed allowance resets the next day. Fixed-data plans end completely once exhausted; additional data must be purchased.

Essentially similar to "unlimited" plans on the market: you always stay connected, but speeds are reduced after exceeding your daily high-speed data allowance. We clearly state the reduced speed for each plan so you can choose the right one—no vague marketing.

Select the exact number of days for your trip — from 1 to 30 days. Pricing is per day: travel for 5 days, pay for 5 days — no need to overbuy a 30-day package.

1 GB/day is enough for maps, messaging, and social media. 2–3 GB/day if you frequently watch videos or make video calls. 5–10 GB/day for livestreaming or sharing a hotspot with your group.

For most plans, validity starts from the first time your eSIM connects to a network at your destination—you can safely install it at home before flying. Exact details for each plan are clearly stated on its product page.
