Papua New Guinea Daily eSIM — Never Run Out of Data

Daily-renewing data plan for your Papua New Guinea trip: choose 1GB–10GB high-speed data per day and the exact number of days you need (1–30 days). Once your daily high-speed allowance is exhausted, speeds are reduced — maps and messaging still work, unlike fixed-data plans where connectivity drops entirely.

Using mobile data in Papua New Guinea: local tips

  • Check the official coverage map. Coverage is far from uniform. NICTA, the national regulator, publishes an interactive 3G data coverage map – zoom in on each stop before you set off.
  • Power cuts happen in towns. Electricity supply to urban centres can be interrupted, so keep your phone and a power bank charged.
  • Submit the Digital Arrival Card. All travellers need the free online PNG Digital Arrival Card, which can be submitted up to 72 hours before you arrive — otherwise use the self-registration kiosks on arrival.
  • Check flights before leaving. Volcanic ash periodically disrupts flights, particularly around Rabaul. Check your flight status with the airline before heading to the airport.
  • Emergency numbers. Dial 111 for an ambulance and 110 for fire. Outside Port Moresby there is no centralised emergency number, so save your accommodation’s and local contacts’ numbers.

FAQ

Depends on your chosen plan: 1GB/day → 1 Mbps; 2GB/day → 1 Mbps; 3GB/day → 1 Mbps; 5GB/day → 384 Kbps; 10GB/day → 384 Kbps. After that, you stay connected until your daily high-speed allowance resets.

eSIM plans for Papua New Guinea connect via Digicel on 4G/LTE networks. Your device automatically selects the strongest local network. The carrier for each plan is listed on its detail page.

Daily plans provide a fixed amount of high-speed data refreshed each day (e.g., 1 GB/day). Once the daily high-speed limit is reached, speeds are reduced but connectivity remains — the full high-speed allowance resets the next day. Fixed-data plans end completely once exhausted; additional data must be purchased.

Essentially similar to "unlimited" plans on the market: you always stay connected, but speeds are reduced after exceeding your daily high-speed data allowance. We clearly state the reduced speed for each plan so you can choose the right one—no vague marketing.

Select the exact number of days for your trip — from 1 to 30 days. Pricing is per day: travel for 5 days, pay for 5 days — no need to overbuy a 30-day package.

1 GB/day is enough for maps, messaging, and social media. 2–3 GB/day if you frequently watch videos or make video calls. 5–10 GB/day for livestreaming or sharing a hotspot with your group.

For most plans, validity starts from the first time your eSIM connects to a network at your destination—you can safely install it at home before flying. Exact details for each plan are clearly stated on its product page.
