South Korea Daily eSIM: Never Run Out of Data

Daily-renewing data plan for your South Korea trip: choose 500MB–10GB high-speed data per day and the exact number of days you need (1–30 days). Once your daily high-speed allowance is exhausted, speeds are reduced: maps and messaging still work, unlike fixed-data plans where connectivity drops entirely.

Using mobile data in South Korea: local tips

  • Use a Korean map app. Google Maps has long lacked full walking and driving directions in South Korea. Install Naver Map or KakaoMap before you arrive. They are what locals use.
  • Naver Map works in English. Naver Map has an English interface with live transit departure times and alerts telling you when to get on and off. Live updates need an internet connection.
  • Papago for menus and signs. Naver’s Papago translates text in photos and handles two-way voice conversations. Text translation also works offline if the signal drops.
  • Taxis without a Korean number. Kakao Mobility’s k.ride app is built for visitors: sign up with Google, Apple or email and pay with a card issued abroad.
  • Expect dips on some rail sections. Korean 5G is very fast overall, but government tests found weaker 5G on subway lines and some KTX/SRT sections, so connections may slow down on those routes.
  • Help over data. Korea’s official 1330 Travel Helpline can be reached by chat through KakaoTalk, Line, Facebook or its own messenger: no Korean phone number needed.

FAQ

Depends on your chosen plan: 500MB/day → 512 Kbps; 1GB/day → 1 Mbps; 2GB/day → 1 Mbps; 3GB/day → 1 Mbps; 5GB/day → 384 Kbps; 10GB/day → 384 Kbps. After that, you stay connected until your daily high-speed allowance resets.

eSIM plans for South Korea connect via SK Telecom, LG U+. Your device automatically selects the strongest local network; 5G is available where supported by the carrier, otherwise 4G/LTE applies. The specific carrier for each plan is listed on its detail page.

Daily plans provide a fixed amount of high-speed data refreshed each day (e.g., 1 GB/day). Once the daily high-speed limit is reached, speeds are reduced but connectivity remains. The full high-speed allowance resets the next day. Fixed-data plans end completely once exhausted; additional data must be purchased.

Essentially similar to "unlimited" plans on the market: you always stay connected, but speeds are reduced after exceeding your daily high-speed data allowance. We clearly state the reduced speed for each plan so you can choose the right one. No vague marketing.

Select the exact number of days for your trip, from 1 to 30 days. Pricing is per day: travel for 5 days, pay for 5 days. No need to overbuy a 30-day package.

1 GB/day is enough for maps, messaging, and social media. 2–3 GB/day if you frequently watch videos or make video calls. 5–10 GB/day for livestreaming or sharing a hotspot with your group.

For most plans, validity starts from the first time your eSIM connects to a network at your destination. You can safely install it at home before flying. Exact details for each plan are clearly stated on its product page.
