Canada Daily eSIM: Never Run Out of Data

Daily-renewing data plan for your Canada trip: choose 500MB–10GB high-speed data per day and the exact number of days you need (1–30 days). Once your daily high-speed allowance is exhausted, speeds are reduced: maps and messaging still work, unlike fixed-data plans where connectivity drops entirely.

  • Lowest cost per GB: 10GB/day, about $2.00 per GB of high-speed data.
  • Speed after the daily cap depends on the plan: 512 Kbps on 500MB, 1GB, 3GB, 10GB, but only 384 Kbps on 5GB. A bigger plan doesn’t mean faster speeds once the cap is reached.
  • Carriers also differ between plans: check the Carrier column if you need a specific network.

Using mobile data in Canada: local tips

  • Icefields Parkway has no signal. Parks Canada says the Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper has no cell coverage. Download offline maps and trip information before leaving town.
  • Banff beyond the townsite. Icefields Parkway campgrounds have no cell coverage, and coverage along the Bow Valley Parkway is limited: don’t count on data once you leave Banff or Lake Louise.
  • Long highway dead zones. CRTC figures show around 15,000 km of Canada’s major roads have no mobile service, including about a third of British Columbia’s. Save offline maps before road trips.
  • Coverage between Yukon towns. Every Yukon community has cell coverage, but highways and wilderness don’t: expect hours without signal when driving between towns.
  • Toronto subway. Every TTC subway station has cell service, but many tunnel sections are still being connected: download what you need before boarding.
  • Tap your card on the TTC. Tap a credit card or phone wallet at PRESTO readers to pay on Toronto’s TTC, with a free two-hour transfer. Regular foreign debit cards aren’t accepted.
  • Satellite SOS on newer iPhones. In areas with no cell or Wi-Fi signal, an iPhone 14 or later can use Emergency SOS via satellite in Canada, independent of your data plan.

FAQ

Depends on your chosen plan: 500MB/day → 512 Kbps; 1GB/day → 512 Kbps; 1.5GB/day → 500 Kbps; 2GB/day → 500 Kbps; 3GB/day → 512 Kbps; 5GB/day → 384 Kbps; 10GB/day → 512 Kbps. After that, you stay connected until your daily high-speed allowance resets.

eSIM plans for Canada connect via Telus, Bell, SaskTel, Rogers Wireless. Your device automatically selects the strongest local network; 5G is available where supported by the carrier, otherwise 4G/LTE applies. The specific carrier for each plan is listed on its detail page.

Daily plans provide a fixed amount of high-speed data refreshed each day (e.g., 1 GB/day). Once the daily high-speed limit is reached, speeds are reduced but connectivity remains. The full high-speed allowance resets the next day. Fixed-data plans end completely once exhausted; additional data must be purchased.

Essentially similar to "unlimited" plans on the market: you always stay connected, but speeds are reduced after exceeding your daily high-speed data allowance. We clearly state the reduced speed for each plan so you can choose the right one. No vague marketing.

Select the exact number of days for your trip, from 1 to 30 days. Pricing is per day: travel for 5 days, pay for 5 days. No need to overbuy a 30-day package.

1 GB/day is enough for maps, messaging, and social media. 2–3 GB/day if you frequently watch videos or make video calls. 5–10 GB/day for livestreaming or sharing a hotspot with your group.

For most plans, validity starts from the first time your eSIM connects to a network at your destination. You can safely install it at home before flying. Exact details for each plan are clearly stated on its product page.
